This book is the 2nd in the "Game of Thrones" series, and it is 873 pages long. Both of these statements make the book totally thrilling. As for the 2nd in the series means that there are five more books to go and (in reference to the many pages) I hope they are all as long as the previous two. I adore these books, I hungrily tear through them, like no other books I have read in years. Since I've watched, and adored, all the episodes in the series, and they, like the books, are worldwide smash hits, if I forget who is who, all I have to do is google the character's name and add got, if necessary, and there he/she is, the picture and a bio, so I can simply say, "Ah, yes, I remember you." And this is so helpful, as there are hundreds of characters in these books and the episodes in the series. I know many people agree with me, with the words I have just written, and I hope many more will read these words and go on to become avid readers of the books, like I am.

`Nobody does fantasy quite like Martin' Sunday Times
Throughout Westeros, the cold winds are rising.
From the ancient citadel of Dragonstone to the forbidding lands of Winterfell, chaos reigns as pretenders to the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms stake their claims through tempest, turmoil and war.
As a prophecy of doom cuts across the sky - a comet the colour of blood and flame - five factions struggle for control of a divided land. Brother plots against brother and the dead rise to walk in the night.
Against a backdrop of incest, fratricide, alchemy and murder, the price of glory is measured in blood.
