Sarah is a genius! A true genius and a fantastic storyteller! She could write a book about how paint dries and I would still read it and Sarah would make it phenomenal. The world building in this book is mind blowing, I could vividly imagine the settings and the characters. This book follows the storyline of the Disney film we all love (That movie is life) but with added twists, gruesome and dark turns. Sarah made this story original but a lot of the scenes will be familiar from film. Just like in ToG, there’s so much to the plot, there’s so much of the story to be told and I’m thrilled that a lot of the original BATB is there but at the same time, there’s so many new aspects I’d never have imagined. Sarah’s storyline and writing transported me to this beautiful and lovely world.
There aren’t many Beauty and the Beast retellings, I kind of like that it isn’t told as much or isn’t a mainstream fairytale because masterpieces such as ACOTAR happen and I love how original it is yet reminds me of the classic BATB.
This book was weirdly like a guilty pleasure for me… Y'know when something happens in a book that you subconsciously like but don’t know what it is. Yeah, I’m making no sense. But when I read this I just thought ‘I haven’t read something like this before. I’ve never read something like this before. It’s what I needed and love but never get enough of’ and so I just love that kind of book that’s like a guilty pleasure. Just me? Yup, thought so.
I like Feyre for the most part. She’s guarded, alert and broken, she isn’t a brave girl from the beginning - she learns from her mistakes and realises she should have stayed and fought instead of walking away. Then she lets her guard down and becomes free and herself. It’s the same with Tamlin (sort of) Tamlin’s a mix of fury and kittens? He can be angry, dangerous and ferocious but can be smiling, laughing and smirking a second later. I like that he has a layered personality and depth just like Feyre. But Tamlin is wonderful, it’s amazing how sweet he really is. Ahhh, I love everything about him! He could have used Feyre, got her to fall in love with him just to break the curse without loving her in return but I’m happy that wasn’t the case because THEY BELONG TOGETHER - but is that doesn’t work out, I’m happy to be with Tamlin.
What I liked about Feyre is that she was still planning her escape no matter the futility or how many times they told her nothing would happen to her. She knew she had to be on alert or get back to her family and didn’t stop for a while. Definitely something I liked about her.
LUCIEN IS AWESOME. That is all.
Okay, so I’m gonna have to talk about the sexy times in this book *clears throat* HOT DAMN!
Let us move on (can someone take me to Spring Court already?)
