A mixed between Game of Thrones and Star Wars.
Frostblood is a mixed of Game of Thrones and Star Wars. Except the fact that there is Frost/Fire and FairyLoot send a little Kahlessi/Jon Snow with the respective copy, I've found in Ruby (the Main Character) a lot of Arya Stark and Khaleesi: Ruby is a 17 years old who can't be hurt by the fire like a true Targaryen but she has also the actual power of fire and she will learn to manage the power; plus, she is also trying to avenge the deaths of her mother and all the people she cared about it and, like Arya Stark, she keep saying their names to not lose her focus.
I could feel the Star Wars part just in the last 100 pages (or so) when the Minax story had its enter -- I'm not explaining everything so you won't receiving any kind of spoilers about it -- but Ruby has to fight with both her enemies and the darkness. The last part was a Darth Fener reference: JOIN THE DARK SIDE. Will Ruby succumb to the darkness or will step into the light?
As most of the fantasy stories Frostblood cannot not have a love story between two characters who has been enemies and kind of hate each other at first: a Fireblood and a Frostblood. Kind of Romeo and Juliet: Arcus and Ruby. Arcus is the classic mysterious male character with an actual hoodie in order to increase the mysterious part and we won't see his face for a while.
The writing in general is fluid and you won't get bored but the story is always pretty obvious in some points. It looked like nothing remarkable or news to me. The part that I was really interesting into was the darkness/minax part but I felt like it was missing something and the last chapters was written in rush just to closed the story and leave a cliffhanger for the second book.
