WATCH OUT! There's a jam thief about! Have you ever bitten into a jammy doughnut and thought - This needs more jam? Imagine Sam's horror when he discovers that his favourite treat has been SUCKED DRY! Who did it?!
Writer-illustrator Sarah McIntyre loves comics, raspberry jam and inappropriate dinnertime conversation. Funnily enough, these things all relate to her books Vern and Lettuce, Jampires and Morris the Mankiest Monster. These titles have bagged prizes including the Sheffield Children's Books Overall Award, the Bishop Stortford Picture Book Award and the Leeds Graphic Novel Award (now the Young People's Comic Award). She blogs regularly and you can download free activity sheets from her website to go with each of her books. Parents, teachers, librarians, booksellers, anyone: feel free to use these to inspire creativity in your kids. (And you might have a good laugh trying them yourself!) David O'Connell is a writer and illustrator living in London, UK. He is the creator of MONSTER & CHIPS, a series of children's books filled with fun, adventure and plenty of disgusting food! He makes picture books as well - JAMPIRES with the brilliant Sarah McIntyre and he's currently writing some picture books that will be illustrated by Francesca Gambatesa. He also loves comics, and likes to make and sell his own mini-comics at comic shows around the country, as well as organising and running comic-making workshops for children.
Along with his friends, a grumpy old albatross, a short-sighted mermaid, and a friendly island called Cliff, Oliver sets out to rescue his missing parents. On their perilous journey the friends meet evil islands, a boy called Stacey (not a girl's name), and more sea monkeys than you can wave some seaweed at.
And they're off! Who will win the Race to the Top of the World? Helga Hammerfest and her polar bears; bounder and cheat Sir Basil Sprout-Dumpling or Shackleton Jones with his robot-powered sled?
But wait, what's this? Two kids riding a sled pulled by 66 pugs wearing jumpers?! The underdogs are coming.
Astra's ship is in trouble. There's something very sinister lurking in the canteen. A cakey monstrosity on the war path. And then there's the Poglites - a space salvage crew who have invaded the ship in their quest for spoonage!
Astra and her robot friend Pilbeam are the only things standing in the way of the ship's destruction
Kevin the flying pony blows in on a magical storm and - DOOF! - crashes into the balcony outside Max's flat.
As the storm waters rise and the town is besieged with creatures, Max and Kevin set about putting things right.
With Max's quick thinking and a constant supply of biscuits for Kevin, there's nothing this heroic duo can't achieve!
With x-ray vision, super speed and bravery by the bag-load, Superkid is always on hand to save the day! He can spot bullies trying to steal your bubblegum, and he can make even pirates surrender. An encouraging message about every child's potential to be a hero,
