A surreal, touching read
This is a sad read but its also quite a touching one as well. Its certainly very surreal - I was quite confused at the start, trying to figure out what was what, or who was who. I thought it was a bit overly surreal and even perhaps a little bonkers.
Due to this, if your an impatient reader then this might seem a bit too abstract for your taste. Its certainly not a bad read, its quite random but I can certainly relate to most of the sentiments, since I love the dog we have (also called Lily!). It will appeal mostly to dog owners, or pet owners in general perhaps although the themes it covers doesn't just relate to pets but moreso to companionship in general.
I found it to be quite a comforting read - there is certainly an element of poignancy present. I found myself feeling quite devoted to the characters. Its not as especially long read at 301 pages long and I read it in under 2 days. As the plot pace built up maybe a third of the way through, I found myself feeling quite keen to find out what happened and I'd say its fairly engrossing. I'm (perhaps unfairly?) taking one star off it, ratings wise, due to me finding the start a bit difficult to get to grips with.
