Reading Like A Writer is quite a tough read for me, mostly because of the language style used. For me, they’re not your typical laid back read. It sounds like it’s coming from someone whose life revolves around the literature written mostly by “dead white men”. It’s not meant as an insult. It’s simply a fact that although made it quite a slow read for me (had to renew the loan for three times!), it’s still resourceful and enlightening. To be honest I enjoyed it.
If you’re the type that read exclusively to escape then this probably isn’t for you. If you speed read and skim, and hate to slow down to ruminate on or mull over what you’ve just read, then this isn’t for you either. But if you’re flexible, read quite indiscriminately, and not picky like me, then yes, it’s a rewarding read.
