I didn’t like this as much as the author’s previous books.
It’s engaging, fast-paced and entertaining but there was just something missing. It felt... forced. Perhaps you have to be far more interested in music? Or more political? It’s definitely not horror.
It was missing the horror elements and the comedy that made the previous works so enjoyable. While there was an excellent claustrophobic scene in this book, it just didn’t deliver on the promise of horror. And while I liked the character of Kris, I didn’t really feel a connection to the others. The ending fell totally flat for me. It built to a crescendo and then just...stopped.
Perhaps I’m not the target audience for this; I was hoping for something scary, but instead I got a comment on American society badly disguised as a novel.
