Quirky retelling of the intertwining lives of Lovelace and Babbage
Even quirkier than the reviews had led me to believe. Quite funny in places.
The biggest problem were the footnotes. Sure, they were informative and interesting. The problems were twofold: first the numbers referencing the footnotes were so small that for those readers like myself whose eyesight is not as acute as once it was they are easy to miss. Secondly they were so extensive you had to make a choice - do I read each one as it occurs, thereby considerably disrupting the flow of the 'text'? Or do I read them at one go, once I have read the whole chapter? I choose the latter (which, indirectly, deals with my first problem as it didn't matter if I missed the reference number!
