When Carnage, the offspring of the alien symbiote Venom learns that it is about to asexually reproduce, Venom goes to great lengths to try and protect his grandchild from the insane murderer that will be it's father. When the thousandth in this line of symbiotes is born, police officer Patrick Mulligan's life is irreversibly changed, as he becomes Toxin! But the arrival of the baby causes rifts to emerge in this twisted family, a rift that pairs two symbiotes together, and the third symbiote with Spiderman! But which symbiote is working with the web-slinger?
Whilst I found the origin story of Toxin to be an interesting look at the family of symbiotes, some plot points felt a little weak. However my biggest issue with this book is the art, which I found to be too computerised. This, for me, took away some of the characters individual looks, especially in panels in which Spiderman looked like Toxin. Although I enjoyed the most part of the story, this really let the book down from my point of view.
