I wanted more diversity in this book. I really wanted MORE!
The main character is biracial (asian/POC) and can't find her place in high school until she starts running (?) I don't know.. I mean I enjoyed the story and the relationship between Wing and her brother but I just didn't feel the diverse-part in the book. I wanted to know more about the culture. More about being biracial and how the world perceives you.
I also don't know how to feel about the lioness and the dragon.. I understand that they were imaginary friends for Wing until she finds her place in the world but I don't know. Is it a bit racist or not?
But I really liked Aaron and Wing's grandmothers. I could die of laughs.
But I still think that something is missing about this book.
And I still don't understand why the story has been set on 1995 and not in our times. I don't think it would have been different.
