WARNING- May contain spoilers for PLANET HULK
After the events of PLANET HULK, and the explosion of the ship that stranded him on Sakaar, Hulk returns to Earth with the aim of punishing those who sentenced him to a life in space. With his Warbound beside him, Hulk seeks out Black Bolt, Dr Stephen Strange, Reed Richards and Tony Stark- the four men who tricked him and stranded him- to get his revenge. The four are guilty for the death of Hulk's queen, the mother of his unborn child, and the people that he freed from the tyrannical Emperor. Or so Hulk believes.
As he travels across the Earth, destruction in his wake, Earth's heroes- all of them- must band together to save their planet from the Worldbreaker. No matter their stance in the preceding CIVIL WAR conflict, any and all help is needed to stop Hulk at his angriest. But are ANY of them strong enough? What lengths must be gone to to stop such a powerful threat? And what do they do with him if they do manage to stop him?
In the 5 issues that form WORLD WAR HULK, we see the Hulk angrier, and less in control than he has ever been. He no longer recognises friend from foe, and is the darkest version of himself. It is a fascinating read, and the art to accompany is superb. The question of whether Bruce Banner or the Hulk is the true face of the character is a key one in this Graphic Novel, as Earth's protectors search desperately for a way to prevent the end of the world.
This Graphic Novel also comes with 2 WHAT IF? stories- one that asks what might have happened should the Hulk have died on Sakaar, and one that asks what might have been if the capsule he was in had made it to it's chosen destination.
